With reports from Francis Calubaquib & Noli Berioso Two Mutya ng Pilipinas beauties emerged as runner-up winners in two recently-concluded international beauty pageants. Janela Joy Cuaton won as first runner-up at the Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 pageant held last November 18 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thailand's Amanda Charleen won the crown. Second runner-up was Cambodia's Hang Manita; Raquel Maria Guevara Avila of Costa Rica, 3rd r-up; and Zijun Jia of China, 4th r-up. Dressed in an elegant Pat Santos ensemble, Janela arrived in the country last November 22 and was met at the airport by her relatives and friends and selected pageant media. In her arrival statement, she thanked all the people and organizations that helped her tremendously in her international competition most especially the Mutya ng Pilipinas Inc. and her Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp. Meanwhile, reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 Asia-Pacific Ganiel Krishnan placed second runner-up at the 2016 Miss Asia Pacific International Pageant held last November 23 at the Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Tessa le Conge of the Netherlands was crowned Miss Asia Pacific International 2016 and rounding up the top five winners are Miss Thailand, 1st R-up, Miss Cook Island, 3rd R-up and Miss Korea, 4th R-up.
The newly-crowned Miss Asia Pacific International 2016 winner and runners-up met the press during a dinner press conference held at Punta Mandala Restaurant in Mandaluyong City last November 24. During the press conference, the ladies expressed their thanks and appreciation for the warm hospitality and kindness they received and promised to promote Philippine tourism in their respective countries once they return home. After a decade-long hiatus, the oldest and pioneer international pageant based in Manila, the Miss Asia Pacific International Pageant was finally revived this year which saw forty lovely candidates vying for the most coveted title. The press presentation of candidates and National Costume Competition were held last November 17 at the Manila Pavilion Hotel before the candidates flew to Puerto Princesa City for other pre-pageant competitions and activities. The 2016 Miss Asia Pacific International was presented by Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa, Puerto Princesa, Palawan, AG 88.Com and Casino Filipino. |
