Wafer Models Cebu sisters Joana Zapanta and Michelle Ilagan bagged their respective titles at the Miss Queen of Hearts Philippines 2021 pageant held at the CrossWinds Swiss Luxury Resort in Tagaytay, Cavite, on July 5, 2021.
Joana Zapanta of Inayawan, Cebu City, was crowned as Miss Philippines World Peace 2021. She is the first of the five winners to represent the Philippines overseas as she's bound to compete at the Miss World Peace pageant in Singapore later this year.
Michelle Ilagan of Oslob, Cebu Province, was crowned as Miss Philippines World Peace 2022. The famous DJ Inday Mikay (of Yes! The Best Cebu) will represent the country to the Miss World Peace pageant next year.
Finding my niche as a Q and A mentor has given this writer more reasons to be excited about every pageant coming up. Not only do I feel good sharing what I know and teaching how to nail it from a pageant buff's point of view, but I also can't wait to see my mentees wearing that coveted crown at the end of the night.
And now that Joana Zapanta and Michelle Ilagan just made it, this writer couldn't be any prouder of our country's newest ambassadors of peace and goodwill for bringing pride and honor to the south, and of Wafer Models Cebu headed by Marlon Garcia Wafer for its team of vigorous people including Herbie Jumar, Bobbie Albert, Zee Navarro, and others who were part of their journey to victory.
Special thanks to my good friend, Dr. Rolex Omega, for making sure that Joana Zapanta was confidently beautiful in her smile before flying to Manila for Miss Queen of Hearts Philippines. Thank you, Dr. Omega, for believing in each of my mentees I introduced you to. Ditto for Michelle Ilagan, who's very excited to visit your clinic soon. I can't wait to see you all—the two queens wearing their Miss Philippines World Peace sashes and crowns to your dental clinic on the second floor of Cocomall on Osmeña Boulevard—in my next visit to Cebu City.
Thanks also to Skin 911 Facial and Slimming Centre on the second floor of Banilad Town Center and to Skin Doctors on the second floor of Verve Point Arcade, Talamban Road, Banilad, Cebu City, for taking care of Joana's and Michelle's skin. Indeed, both beauties from the south shone onstage in the Alternative Summer Capital of the Philippines and walked away with two of the major titles.
This year's Miss Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant is sponsored by (among others) Psalmstre Enterprises, the maker of the original New Placenta skin care products as well as leading beauty and herbal soaps like Jim & Jel and others for more than twenty years.
Kudos to the Queen of Hearts Foundation, Inc., for staging a successful pageant despite the challenges brought about by the current pandemic. To the other Miss Queen of Hearts 2021 titleholders—Miss Philippines Global Universe 2022 Maerylle Blauta, Miss Philippines Tourism Worldwide 2022 Kathie Lee Berco, and Miss Philippines Lumiere International World 2022 Julia Mendoza (who are overseas-bound for their respective international competitions)—congratulations to you too!
