Fernando Alvarez, Puerto Rico’s official representative to the recently concluded Mr World 2016, has conquered a bigger world with his impressive finish as first runner-up.
Fernando, 21, hails from Coamo, one of the most beautiful and oldest towns in Puerto Rico. Before gaining the attention of local pageant and talent scouts, Fernando stayed focused on finishing his accountancy degree. However, this 6-feet tall hunk knew even then when he was an unknown personality in his country, that he is destined for something bigger and greater.
Long before incessant clamors from local organizers, Fernando began leaving quite an impression with his modeling skills and versatility in front of the camera. Then magazine covers and special events began to demand more of his undoubtedly strong charisma. The most opportune time was when Fernando represented Puerto Rico for the Mister International held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila in 2015. He may not have won the top plum, but it opened many other doors of opportunities and fame for Fernando.
During his stint with Mister International, Fernando seized the attention of Psalmstre Enterprises, Inc., CEO and founder, Jaime V. Acosta. PEI, maker of New Placenta skin care lines, saw in Fernando the core image for their product, New Placenta for Men. Metropolitan and sexy, meticulous in grooming and appearance, driven by ambition and succeeding - the exact qualities of New Placenta for Men market that Fernando exudes. “We are so proud of the recent addition to Fernando’s growing success. As New Placenta for Men international ambassador, Fernando’s triumph complements what our brand represents, a man of unlimited potential,” said Acosta.
It is not surprising for Fernando to emerge as first runner up in Mr World 2016. He has a lot more to offer beyond his good looks. Fernando’s well-rounded personality can be attributed to his various interests, in the arts such as dancing and acting, or in sports where he plays basketball and volleyball, and his ceaseless stance to excel academically.
During his few trips to the Philippines, he has also shown a different facet of his personality. Despite resounding success in his glittering career, Fernando’s heart remains humble yet rich in compassion. He has also embraced the hospitality of Filipinos and has left imprints of his appreciation to anything Filipino as evident with his growing number of Pinoy friends and followers.
With his victory at the Mr World 2016, Pinoys are in jubilation as they feel Fernando has also given us the win, despite the great attempt of our very own candidate Sam Ajdani, as Fernando is a true Pinoy at heart.
