By Rich M. Salibay Photos by Jonas Yu and Joy Arguil The last-minute changes of the sequence in the 2016 Pilipinas Men’s Fashion Week 8, which gave way to the special participation of Mister Puerto Rico International 2015 Fernando Alvarez, unfolded more appeal and excitement and rocked the House Manila, Remington Hotel, Resorts World Manila last January 21. With a sultry opening number headed by no less than the Caribbean beauty king himself, the venue’s temperature hit its highest mark. Fashion fans went restless as the group of men strutted off their shapes and forms down the runway, wearing the creations of Mon Favila.
Fernando’s invasion sent the caliber of the Pilipinas Men’s Fashion Week to a notch higher, making it an international fashion fair. The Puerto Rico native’s participation created a fusion between Filipino and Latino fashion senses and styles. The fusion resulted to a night of celestial rapture in fashion, which kept everybody excited for PMFW’s next season. Fernando came all the way from the South American continent through the invitation of Psalmstre chief executive officer Jim Acosta. Last week, he graced the galleon-themed float of Psalmstre in the Sinulog grand parade, where he played the character of Portuguese conquistador Ferdinand Magellan. Fernando is Psalmstre’s international New Placenta for Men ambassador. Fernando, with his Pinoy model counterparts, capped the show with a literally captivating and classy runway number donning the creations of Dauson Bermtay. The fashion show was directed by ShandyMontecarlo Lim. |
