Thirty year old Pampanga based Christian Reyes Lacsamana is the official representative of the Philippines to the forthcoming annual Mr. Gay World 2016 pageant happening in historical and culture rich country Malta from April 19-23.
A special send-off press conference was held last Saturday, March 12 at the Club One 690 Bar in Roces, Quezon City to signal the start of Christian’s campaign in the eight year old international pageant that embarked on creating global competition to inspire and empower gay men and show the world that being gay encompasses a broad spectrum. The event was well attended by members of the media from TV networks, newspapers and blogs as well as friends, relatives and supporters of Christian. Owner of the local franchise of the pageant, Wilbert Ting Tolentino who happened to be a former Philippine delegate to the competition was present at the event and very ecstatic about the coming pageant. “I know that Christian will give a good fight along with the thirty two other contestants from different parts of the globe. He prepared and sacrificed so many things for this and we at the MGWP (Mr. Gay World Philippines Org.) is optimistic that he will show to the people of Malta that he is worthy for the title of Mr. Gay World 2016”, he enthused.
Christian is a licensed educator, graduated at Don Honorio Technological School and is currently a secondary level teacher in Bacolor, Pampanga. Born thirty summers ago, he is the youngest among five siblings. Prior to being handpicked to represent the country to the Mr. Gay World, he joined Mr. Pogay search of the popular noontime show It’s Showtime over ABS-CBN. He finished 1st runner-up during the finals of the competition.
“I am very thankful to the entire MGWP organization for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity and I will promise not only to do my best to win our first Mr. Gay World title for the country but most importantly to promote the cause of the pageant, that is to spread HIV-AIDS awareness and to be an ideal spokesperson and representative to the LGBT community worldwide”, Christian said during an intimate interview.
