Filipina beauty queens competing in several international pageants over the past weeks made several victories and brought honor and pride to the Philippines. Filipina delegate to the inaugural Miss World Peace Pageant Jeslyn Santos of Bulacan won the Best in Long Gown award and emerged as one of the finalists at the 2015 Miss World Peace Pageant held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, Hongkong last September 26. A stunning protégée of noted pageant mentor and events director, Mr. John de la Vega, Jeslyn wore a Vince Sityar gown creation with Domz Ramos as her fashion and styling coach and Donver Donato Belza as make-up trainor.
Another Pinay beauty Alexandra Mae Rosales of Calamba City, Laguna won as Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2015 first runner-up at the pageant held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last October 2. Miss Thailand emerged as the top winner, while Indonesia landed second runner-up. Alexandra is one of the winners of Miss Tourism Philippines 2015 pageant held last July 30 under the direction of Mr. Francisco Gareth Blanco. Finally, Kayla Marie Talusan won the Continental Queen of Asia title at the recently concluded Miss Mermaid International 2015 pageant held at the Sheraton Soma Bay in Hurghada, Egypt last October 4. Other winners are Miss Mermaid Australia, Krystal Dawson; Miss Mermaid Africa, Gata Salvaje; Miss Mermaid Europe; Karen Op't Eynde and Miss Mermaid Americas & Best Outfit, Zeltzin Gutierrez. Kayla was personally handpicked by Megastar Production head and Philippine franchise holder of Miss Mermaid International, Mr. Ovette Ricalde to join the international tilt. A local Miss Mermaid Philippines Search is being planned for next year, according to Mr. Ricalde. Report By: Francis Calubaquib All of the twenty-six official candidates of Miss World Philippines 2015 participated in the talent competition held last October 5, Monday, at the Manila Pianos House, Home Depot, Pasong Tamo, Makati City. Showcasing what is beyond their face value and voluptuous figures, the ladies impressed the judges with their talents as they displayed their aptitude in singing, dancing, painting, acting, playing musical instruments to magic tricks.
Noteworthy performance came from candidate #22 Vianca Louise Marcelo of Bulacan Province. She wowed the audience and stunned the judges with her breathtaking magic tricks. This twenty-one year old beauty is an HRM graduate of DLSU-College of Saint Benilde. Prior to joining Miss World Philippines, she has already won several titles including Reyna Ng Bulacan 2014, Miss Silka Philippines 2011, Miss Bocaue 2011 and a placer in the Aliwan Festival last year representing Singkaban Festival. Vianca wishes to be one of the many Bulakeñas who became national beauty queens and eventually represented the country in various international pageants. #13 Avonlea Paraiso got the nod of the judges with her genuine talent in playing the harp in front of mesmerized audience to the tune of Ed Sheeran original “Thinking Out Loud”. This half-Pinay beauty is one of the tallest girls in the competition and is one of the six contenders from the Aces and Queens beauty camp under the helm of Jonas Gaffud. #21 Mia Allyson Howell performed a Pasa-Doble number to the delight of the crowd. Wearing an all red outfit, Mia gave other contenders a good fight for the talent award with her sharp and flawless number. She recently won the Miss World Philippines-Ilocos Sur 2015 during a Gala Night held in Vigan City last October 6. She is under the tutelage of Rogil Flores of Kagandahang Flores camp. Miss Cory Qurino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Miss World Philippines organization is very optimistic that like the previous years, the 2015 edition of the pageant will be successful in terms of popularity and quality of the winners. “I am expecting that we will crown another international caliber beauty queen coming October 18 that can possibly duplicate the success of Megan Young, our very first Miss World,” she says during a brief talk with the members of the media. The finals will be held at the state-of the art Theater@Solaire with live telecast over Kapuso Channel GMA-7. By Noli A. Pilipinas Globe 2015 Ann Lorraine Colis of Mexico, Pampanga won for the Philippines its first Miss Globe title during the finals held at Rose Theatre Brampton in Toronto, Canada last October 8, (Friday Morning, Oct 9 in Manila).
Ann bested more than forty candidates from around the globe who participated in the 12th edition of the pageant. Among her court of honors are Miss France- 4th Runner-up, Miss China- 3rd Runner-up, Miss Macedonia- 2nd Runner-up and Miss Albania-1st Runner-up. This year marks the first time that our country has sent a delegate to the pageant. Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. led by its Executive Chairman, Mrs. Stella Marquez de Araneta has issued the following congratulatory message on Ann’s victory on their official Facebook page which quotes, “The special recognition illustrates worldwide acclaim and appreciation for true Filipina grace and beauty and her win is a proud moment for our country. Congratulations, Ann!” A rousing welcome and victory press conference are being planned upon the gorgeous Pampaguena’s return to the country. |
